Moscow Fighting Arena 2013 is a major Russian fighting championship. It will take place on August 24-25 in a big Moscow electronics mall "Gorbushkin Dvor". Moscow Fighting Arena 2013 is the tenth annual championship of Moscow Fighting Arena series, run by Fighting.ru team since 2004.

Moscow Fighting Arena 2013 main events

  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2 1v1
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us 1v1
  • Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition ver. 2012 1v1 (or the latest available version)
  • SoulCalibur V 1v1
  • Guilty Gear XX AC+R 1v1 (if available)

Moscow Fighting Arena 2013 side events

  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2 3v3
  • Mortal Kombat 9 1v1
  • (more TBA)

Participation and prize pool
We will announce all the details soon. However, you might want to use the previous year as the reference - we had a participation fee of roughly $8 per tournament (and no venue fee), and we had a whole bunch of cool devices from our sponsors (including Sony, MadCatz, AVermedia and TT Esports). We didn't have significant monetary prizes last year, but we are looking into possibilities to make it happen this year.

Travel and accommodation
Travelling to Russia is not as complicated as it is rumoured by many. Visa submission can be somewhat bothersome if you are accustomed to travelling within EU only, but it should be easy as long as you don't procrastinate till the last possible moment. Flying to Russia starts from 150 Euro for closer countries (Nordic or Western Europe); from France you can get good tickets for 250 Euro, etc., etc. You can make it even cheaper using discounters if you wish to. Whichever way you'd prefer, please don't hesitate to contact us for any kind of advice, we will gladly help.

Food is not a problem at the venue - nice and relatively inexpensive (10 Euro for a 3 course dinner) restaurant is located right next to the venue (yes, you can eat and watch games on the big screen), and you can have basically any kind of fast food in 5 minutes walk range.

Venue is closed after 9pm, so sleeping / staying at venue is impossible. However, we would gladly help to find you a cheap inn or a hostel with fellow fighters or a Russian person willing to host you.

Overall, we are really looking towards seeing you at Moscow Fighting Arena, and we will do our best to ensure your comfort and to give you the best Russian hospitality possible =)

Event structure
All main events are groups => play-off. Groups are round robin bo3, best 2 qualify. Play-off is full double elimination bo3. Seeding in groups is done by Fighting.ru ratings; we would consider seeding my country depending on number of foreign attendants. We also run some qualifiers during the summer, its winners are going directly to play-off. All team tournaments are full double elimination, king of the hill, bo1.

All tournaments are run on PS3. Detailed rules in English will be available soon.

What to expect?
  • A friendly, yet smoothly-run event
  • ~30 PS3 stations available from 10AM to 9PM
  • 40-100 players per tourney, ~250 fighters overall
  • Nice weather (average Moscow temperature for August is +17 С) and good sightseeing (you can easily get to Kremlin from the venue in 20-25 minutes (Google maps)) - unless you prefer to have more of friendly button-mashing and salty money-matches =)

Participation fee for other tourneys - 200 RUR (~5 EUR) for pre-registered players, 250 RUR (~6 EUR) for players.

Pre-registration starts from July 1st at Fighting.ru - stay tuned.

Rules and regulations:

All Moscow Fighting Arena 2013 tourneys are to comply with Fighting.ru general rules. While those rules are not available in English at the moment, they are pretty obvious and universal. One thing should be mentioned, however - all players choices are double-blind (unless players agreee otherwise), and there is no limitation on character swaps during a 1v1 tourney - any player may change their character before any fight, regardless of their brackets position and previous fight results.

Main events (TTT2 1v1, SSF4AE12 1v1, Injustice: GAU 1v1, SCV 1v1) are group stage into Full Double Elimination, all games are best of 3. Groups are of 5-6 players Round Robin, top-2 advances to FDE. In case of a tie we check the result of the match between tied players, after that win-loss battle ratio. If that does not break the tie, we play a tiebreaker match bo1. There is no regional seeding for group stage, but there will be seeding based on Fighting.ru ratings. Players who won a regional qualifier (run during July in multiple Russian cities) advance to FDE directly skipping group stage entirely.

All other 1v1 tournaments are Full Double Elimination, bo3.

TTT2 3v3 is Full Double Elimination, King of the Hill. Individual players play bo3, teams play bo1.

Everything is subject to change, although we would do our best to avoid any changes at this point =)

The pleasure is mine )

It is a shame, though, that we weren't able to have +R as a main event, as we initially wanted... Still, if any of you guys will come here, we will ensure you'll get some great GG experience )

(Well, this doesn't have much to do with GG, but still...)

Two Tekken superstars, Korean players JDСR and Saint, will attend Moscow Fighting Arena 2013.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNNuGiSJJAU

Korean player Kim Hyunjin, known to all Tekken fans as JDСR, is currently one of the strongest Tekken players in the world. During last three years he claimed over ten victories in major tournaments all over the world - in Korea, Japan, Malaysia, USA, Germany, France and Finland. The second invitee - Choi Jinwoo a.k.a Saint - also has claimed multiple prizes in many major tournament and is widely recognized as one of the best Ganryu players in the world.

Fighting.ru is glad to welcome these players to Moscow Fighting Arena 2013 and gives major props to our partner Western Digital company, who made all this possible.

Moscow Fighting Arena 2013 is major fighting event held on August 24th-25th in Moscow, Russia. Please find more details about MFA2013 at our website.

Hi everyone )

So MFA 2013 was mostly successful (barring stream problems on day 1, for this we apologize sincerely), with more than 250 players attending, HYPE flowing, money-matches unleasing, JDCR and Saint trashing local Tekken players (or did they?) and so on.

For those of you who haven't made it to the event:

Stream archive is here: http://www.twitch.tv/fightingru/profile/pastBroadcasts (again - we are really sorry for technical problems that occurred on day 1)

And most of videos from stream are available separately at this youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLexHSnoYeR6I7ohXo621OV-dmP0CKeRwx

Hi Biologin,

Thanks a bunch for the report and videos!

I'm sorry nobody from France could make it to the event, from what I can see on the pictures the event looked great.

Also nice to see an Anji player placing 2nd at the +R tournament, good job!
